Great Opening Night!

So thanks all for coming! We think it turned out really well. Throughout the evening people where coming and going, enjoying and making new friends, grabbing some food, and we think all present had a good time. The highlight of the evening was when Paul did a quick 30 minute demo of one of the kids that showed up.

Thanks again for all those that showed up! It made it a great success as always.

The studio is set up to be a miniture gallery in the evenings or weekends. It's such a beautiful place Paul hardly dare's paint in it... Good thing he is becoming a lot cleaner of a painter:).

Next religious piece official banner

This month's news

Hey All,

I have now settled in in my new place, closing in on a commission of a family, and preparing for the unveiling ceremony of both the doctors family and my new studio. I also have officially started on the next piece, "The second Cleansing."

The painting "And at Midnight there was a Cry Made." made it to the final round of judging in Salt Lake City for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I will know in a month if it is on display in the Museum as well.

All of my posts by March will be streamlined to this blog so please keep up with me here.

Drawings from my personal Sketchbook

I will try to upgrade the lighting on these next week. For now this will have to do...

So... I have just had a delicious time working on the feet this last month. One of my 14 month goals, and I learned this from one of my favorite artists, Patrick Devonas, is to have the capability to draw the figure out of my head with as hi a level of accuracy as possible from any direction with any type of lighting.

Again I am learning that the more rules I can break the better off I will be. Eventually I plan on just being able to do one solid brushstroke for the navicular bone for example, similar to what Sargent did, to solidify the impression of the foot if I choose to.

It's a very rewarding and quite entoxicating process to go through and it's quite entertaining to be in the room or rather sketchbook of the Old Masters, learning there trials and errors, and summoning from them the strength to move past fails towards victories.

This particular ratio of the foot is from one of my hero's from the Father land (Germany) Albrecht Durer. There are also notations as is noted from other masters and from art books.

Thanks again for your time!

This is a personal undertaking to train my eye a little more. Definately not the end all to art as I still like to fall towards the impressionism side but a very good excersize to train my eye towards.

More on this later,

Paul
